I see this coffee won best coffee in CPT in '15, '16, and '17, but I personally am struggling to like it.
As an espresso, it is not bad at all, has a bright acidity that pops in your mouth, and has an nice body. I do find in terms of mouth feel it is quite watery, and not very creamy. Where I really struggle with it is in any milked based drink. Once you add milk, the coffee flavor just disappears, it is as though there is next to no espresso in the drink. I have tried double shots, single shots, ristrettos in all different sized cups, but the outcome always seems to be the same, an extremely milky tasting drink, with little coffee flavor coming through.
Now my judgment could be a bit unfair as the coffee does not have a roast date on it, just a best before, which is December '22, so who knows when it could have been roasted. This bag of coffee could be a few months old for all I know and hence this could be effecting the flavor.
If you just drink espresso, this is actually not a bad coffee to get, however, if you have milk based drinks, I would not recommend it.
