Local Grind was founded during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic when small businesses around South Africa felt the full brunt of the economy grinding to a halt due to the nation-wide lockdown.

With a surge in ecommerce sales, the founder of Local Grind came up with the idea to start an online platform for local coffee brands to sell and distribute at a time when South Africans needed to unite together and support one another.
